Loops Mouth Tape Mask Review: My 30 Day Experience

I started using a lip mask a couple of years ago when I first heard about them. It seemed like a simple way to care for a part of the body that can so easily be overlooked. When I first heard the term “lip mask” I thought it would be similar to the masks we apply to our faces. I thought I would have to spread it on, let it sit for a period of time, and then remove it. I was wrong. They turned out to be much more like lip balms. You simply apply them at night, and that’s it.

So, when I heard people talking about Loops mouth tape mask and referring to it as a lip mask, I was intrigued. It is a simple adhesive mask you apply over your mouth at night and remove in the morning. I immediately ordered them to try for 30 days and quickly realized I had been mistaken about one thing: Loops are actually a hydrating hydrogel mouth tape mask.

Before starting my 30-day trial, I had to change my thinking about what I was actually using so I could properly evaluate the product. The Loops mouth tape mask is designed to hydrate and soothe the lips while promoting nasal breathing as you sleep. They definitely took some getting used to, simply because I do not normally sleep with anything over my mouth. I can’t quite say that I ever fully got used to it, but it was certainly an interesting product to try.

Over the course of the test period, I did notice that some nights my sleep seemed better than others. At this stage of life, a good night’s sleep for me is about six hours, and some of those nights with the Loops mask felt pretty deep. My breathing felt steady, and I did not feel restricted because of the slit in the mouth tape that allows for breathing. The adhesive was gentle and went on and came off smoothly. Sometimes I felt like I hadn’t gotten a solid application in the evening, but they never came off during the night.

The ingredients in the mask felt good on my lips, and they provided a nice amount of hydration. I also didn’t stop my standard lip-care routine during the 30-day trial. Twice a week, I exfoliate my lips, and nightly I apply a lip mask. I’m sure the combination of my regular routine and the Loops mouth tape mask contributed to the positive results I noticed.

After 30 days, I really had no complaints about the Loops hydrating mouth tape mask. However, because I see them as being better suited for someone who has a specific reason for using mouth tape, I don’t see myself continuing to use them on a regular basis. At $15 a pack for 10 mouth tape masks, I would recommend looking for a sale if you’re interested in trying them. And if you do give them a try, I think using them consistently for about 30 days gives you enough time to decide whether they work for you.

Have you used mouth tape before? I’d love to hear about your experience!
