I enjoy my vacation time. While, I do appreciate all the comforts of home, taking a nice getaway is always welcomed. Now that my summer travels have ended, I've been thinking about a getaway or two for the winter. Nothing exotic because I do enjoy a cozy bed and breakfast with a fireplace in the winter, but even something simple is always fun for me. Each day of this perimenopause journey has me learning how to do things differently, and traveling is one of them.

One way to make sure your trip starts off right is to pack your essentials. I'm not a fan of packing, and I have been guilty of leaving things behind because I did not want to add another item to my luggage. Well, I'm learning that I have to be sure to pack my perimenopause essentials or things are going to be rough.
My supplements, eye mask, and cool pjs are necessary for me at this stage so they must go. I try to keep a list that remains in my bag so I do not forget any items once I start packing. You should also consider leaving some essentials in your suitcase that are not necessary to your everyday routine, or if you have multiples. I do this with my ear plugs and eye mask. I have a bag I leave them in once unpacked, and they’re ready to go when my next adventure comes.
I have always tried to track certain things (hello Aunt Flo) so I wouldn't have to deal with it while I was traveling. It's not always perfect, but even in perimenopause, tracking my symptoms has helped me better understand my body, and the changes that are occurring during this time. Having an awareness of my symptoms and sometimes the timing of them, allows me to gauge what I may or may not be in for while I'm traveling like PMS or low energy.

Last, but not least, focus on having fun. While, you should absolutely prepare yourself as best as you can for your travels, you should also enjoy your vacation. Consider making some preparations on the back end of your trip by building in a couple extra days off when you return to recover. Depending on how off my schedule is when traveling, I already know I need at least a day to readjust to my normal routine, and I try to pad this in every time.
By making sure you prepare and plan well at both the beginning and end of your trip, it can help you better manage your perimenopause symptoms while you travel. Don't forget to pack your essentials, and please don't forget to have some fun. I hope you find at least one of these travel tips helpful in making your journey with perimenopause a little easier.
