When the holidays roll around sometimes, we get so caught up in the preparation and planning of the festivities we forget an important piece or save it for last. The holiday outfit. What shall we wear? Do I need to purchase something new, and do I want to be dressy or casual? Well there's an easy way to take the thinking out of your holiday outfit.
If you don't have a simple and nice pair of black pants, then that should be on your list of closet staples to add immediately. Black pants are like the little black dress to me, and every girl’s closet needs a pair. They can be slacks or jeans, skinny or flare legs, but they should be black. These pants go with anything, and it will take the guess work out of putting your holiday outfit together. I have a few pair to give me some options, but my favorite pair that I consistently grab are basic with no distressing. I found them at American Eagle and even though they are jeggings, they feel like a comfortable pair of slacks. The fit is great, and they have held up for me through lots of washing for the past couple of years.
How do you decide between casual or dressy? Black pants make it easy since they are so versatile. I like to pair them with a nice blouse if I'm going for a dressier vibe. If you want to do something a bit trendy you can pick a trending item from the season, like a sweater vest, then add your button down shirt and booties for a preppy look. You can keep it simple and add a sweater in your favorite fall color and dress it up with your jewelry. There's also the option of going all black and adding a pop with a nice cardigan sweater. If you’re into glitter and sequins, feel free to grab one of those awesome sequins blazers and make a statement. Finally, you know I love my animal print, and you can never go wrong by adding a nice top in your favorite animal print to your black pants.
With so many ways to style your black pants getting ready for the holiday will be a snap. Shop around and take the time to find a pair that you love. I mean really like the style and the fit of them. If you invest in them now and shop your closet during the holidays it will save you some money as well. So tell us, do you prefer to be dressy or casual for the holiday?
