For the past three years, I’ve been living in my concert era. I’ve been to several shows, but lately I’ve been having the best time enjoying 90s R&B music. There’s just something about it that feels unmatched and creates so much nostalgia for me. From Maxwell to Jodeci to New Edition, every concert has been such a vibe.

If you know 90s R&B, then you already know the music is all about chilling, vibing out, and enjoying the moment. So when I pull my 90s concert outfits together, I need them to be just as chill and still a vibe. I’ve pulled together a few simple looks I wore to recent concerts that required absolutely no heels. Comfort is key when you’re walking around venues, standing for long periods of time, and dancing all night.

At the beginning of the year, I had the opportunity to see Jodeci in concert again after 30 years. I was absolutely ecstatic and determined to put together a cute and comfortable look, especially since it was January and freezing outside. I found the cutest oversized sweatshirt online, and the moment I saw it, I ordered it. It was only $30, and sizing up gave it the relaxed look I wanted. I paired it with jeans from my closet and my favorite sneakers for an outfit that felt cozy but still stylish. I also love that it was an R&B-inspired sweatshirt instead of a standard band tee because I can easily wear it again and again.

Next on my concert lineup was seeing New Edition, Boyz II Men, and Toni Braxton. What a lineup! My first thought was to wear a classic band tee, but when I came across a T-shirt featuring one of New Edition’s songs, I couldn’t resist. Once again, it was something versatile enough to wear beyond the concert. I styled it with wide-leg denim and sneakers from my closet, then added a simple hoodie in case the temperature dropped. The final look came together so effortlessly and was perfect for the evening.

The next outfit is a throwback from a couple of years ago, but it still works perfectly today because 90s fashion is trending again. Crop your favorite 90s-inspired tee, throw on a baseball cap, and you instantly have an easy concert look. This is one of my favorite 90s R&B concert outfits because it feels casual, trendy, and fun without trying too hard.

The final look is more of a style suggestion depending on the type of concert you’re attending. Last year, I wore a simple denim boiler suit to see Chris Brown in concert. The fit of the jumpsuit was amazing, and pairing it with sneakers and accessories gave me the relaxed, chill vibe I was going for. Comfortable outfits really can still be trendy and make you feel good.

There are definitely ways to keep your concert style simple, stylish, and comfortable all at the same time. I love a good heel, but these days comfort often takes priority, especially for long nights filled with music and dancing. The next stop on my concert list is the R&B Tour, so it’s time to start planning another look.

Have you been to any good concerts lately?
