Deal or No Deal

This may be an unpopular opinion, but you don't have to wait until Black Friday to find the best deals. I know everyone gets excited about the biggest shopping day of the year, but what if I told you that it's not always when you find the best value.

I have never been a big Black Friday shopper. I don't like crowds, I don't like the cold, and I definitely don't think the best deals are always found on that day. Now, I can only speak from a clothing and toys perspective because that's usually what I was shopping for when raising my daughters, and I left the electronics to my husband. Over time I tried grabbing some little items on that day, but I would always watch prices after that time to see if they would change. Sometimes they wouldn't, but there were other times when the prices went lower than the Black Friday deal. I understand the thrill and experience of shopping on that day, but as a stay-at-home mom who was trying to stretch her dollar, I had to pay attention to the sales.

I can tell how times have changed in the past couple of years, especially since the pandemic. Certain stores used to give coupons all the time and now they don't as much. Black Friday used to mean the Friday following Thanksgiving, and now it's literally all month long, but that's good for us. I have seen deals that are made for the current season, and some of those deals are even on clearance. This means you can get your sweatshirts, pants, and even coats at unbelievable prices. I found a stylish wool blend coat for $33 a couple of weeks ago in store, and although online may be your preference, sometimes you just have to shop in a store to find some of the best bargains. I've gotten used to online shopping, and I have found some good pieces, but I'm still an indoor-shopping-mall kind of girl.

I wanted to share a few of my good deals that are currently in stock and for a great price. Sweater vests are still trending, and it can be a nice piece to have in your closet to dress up or down. I found this cropped sweater vest at Kohl's, and I just loved the boldness of the wide stripes. They had some other colors to choose from, but the blue and white was calling me. I love it with my boot cut jeans and boots, but feel free to wear sneakers too. It's currently on clearance for just under $12, but look for a coupon because they still allow coupons on top of certain clearance, and you can quickly grab this for less than $10.

Can you get sweatshirts right now for under $11? Um, yes, you can. My daughter needed some long sleeve tops added to her wardrobe for the cold season, and I started checking my favorite place first and found so many good pieces. JCPenney has had their Black Friday Deals going on all month long. Remember, this is where I found those wonderful coated jeans for $20-well, the sweatshirts I needed were at a great price too. I grabbed five, and only one was $18, but the rest were under $15, and this adorable graphic one was on clearance for 11 bucks. There are many choices, and now my teenager will be cute and comfortable without costing me a ton of money. I actually think they are so cute that we might share. It's time for me to pay them back for being in my closet. Also, coupons do not work on Black Friday Deals or clearance, but these are such great prices, I don't think you'll be too disappointed.

I could go on and on, but I'll show you this last item that may have to be the best deal of the season even though we're just getting started. This coat was on the rack at H&M and immediately caught my eye. It's trendy, so chic, and it's warm. This will be a great piece as the temperatures are dropping. It was originally $199 but was marked down to 33 bucks! I'm done. Enough said. Okay, well, maybe just one more thing. Like I said earlier, sometimes you still have to shop in the store. My other items I purchased online, but this coat wasn't available online when I checked, and it was the last one on the rack. I guess I'm realizing now that it was totally meant for me!

All right, y’all, the point is: Don't wait. Take a look now and consider things you may want for gifts as well as what you need for yourself or family members. I think times have changed for the way we shop, at least for the moment, and sometimes the best deal won’t a specific day. So, tell me what deals you're shopping the sales for?
